The airport of Changi is located at the east end of the island, 20 km to the downtown area. The airport and urban buses take an express way to join Singapore. Airbus ensures a coach
service every 20 minutes between 6 H and 24 H. The MRT (Mas Rapid Transit) is the ultramodern subway of Singapore: very simple, fast,
comfortable, it is underground on 44 km in the center; more close to the residential districts, it becomes overhead. Orchard Road area is connected by three stations.

Sentosa Island : a good place for relax, is located at the south of the city.The tropical forests which covered formerly the major part of
the island are now reduced to the center where you can find great natural parcs. In the north of the island, the zoo is a very attended site.
The Saint-Andrews Cathedral is located at the heart of Singapore.
It is a Gothic style one and was built in 1856-1861.
The Law Courts were built in 1939.This refined building is built on corynthian columns and painted by the Italian artist Cavaliere Rodolfo
Nolli. It is in the Town hall close there, that Lord Louis Mountbatten signed the surrender with the Japanese in 1945. |
